Here's how to install Android Nougat on a Nexus right now ,

Yesterday, Google started rolling out the latest version of Android, 7.0 Nougat, to a handful of newer Nexus devices. The over-the-air-update — which adds features like improved multi-tasking and better notification control — will be trickling out to users over the coming weeks, but if you really want Nougat right now, this instant, there is a way.

First up, you need to make sure you have a compatible device. That means either a Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C tablet, or General Mobile 4G. Next, sign up for the Android Beta Program using the same Google account you'll be using on your chosen device. Then, select the handset or tablet you want to enroll, accept the terms, and click Join Beta.

Google says it will then take up to 24 hours to send the update to your device, but Verge staff found this usually happened in seconds. You'll want to be on a Wi-Fi connection for the download (and maybe charging as well), but it's basically a very simple process.

With Nougat installed, you get access to split-screen (long-press the square "Overview" button to start arranging windows); a system-wide quick-reply system for apps (when you receive a message, drag it down to tap out a reply); and a virtual cat-catching game.
