Sony's internet TV service, PlayStation Vue, will soon offer HBO and Cinemax "in the coming weeks" — a big development in the company's ongoing attempt to build a cable replacement. The networks will be available for $15 each on top of whatever Vue package customers are already subscribed to. But you'll also have the option of just getting either HBO or Cinemax through view with no bundle attached. Both will offer live, linear program when streaming from Sony's Vue app, and you'll also be able to watch with the soon-to-launch HBO Now app for PS4 and PS3. (That's separate from the existing HBO Go app.)

Sony isn't getting specific about a particular date when HBO will officially become available on Vue; the company is only promising to have it up and running before Westworld's premiere on October 2nd. The launch of HBO and Cinemax on PlayStation Vue will mark the first time HBO’s live programming and Cinemax’s channel will be available directly to you as standalone channel offerings," Sony's blog post reads. "That means through PlayStation Vue, you’ll have the option to subscribe to HBO and Cinemax as standalone channels or add them to your existing PlayStation Vue plan." Rival internet TV service Sling TV also offers HBO for $15 extra each month, but it cannot be purchased standalone.
