Samsung unveiled an intelligent refrigerator with a giant 1080p touch screen attached to it earlier this year at CES. Not to be outdone, LG is at the IFA in Berlin today with its own smart refrigerator, except that it goes a little further. While Samsung has opted for Tizen in its own refrigerator, LG went for Windows 10. This means that you can launch all kinds of Windows applications on the refrigerator, and even classics like MS Paint and regedit if you wish.

LG is using a 29-inch touch screen that is translucent. It is actually really impressive just watching, and it is fast and fluid to use. LG own Windows 10 applications are designed so that you can stick notes to the fridge, set a timer, add recipes and health information on dining, or simply mark the food that you can see through the translucent screen . It seems a little odd to have an Intel Atom processor and 2GB of RAM in your refrigerator, but once I deviated to Microsoft Edge for watching YouTube videos was intrigued with the idea.

As LG has opted for a full version of Windows 10, you can even install applications from the Windows Store here, play music on the speakers, or use Cortana for voice control. While 10 blocks Windows Start menu on the contents of the refrigerator behind when you use it, the applications simply blend into the translucent screen so that you can have the time on the screen while checking the amount of milk you left. It is all super ridiculous and I do not need Windows 10 on my refrigerator, but I really want there now.

LG did not reveal the exact specifications of the refrigerator for the time or price and share information, but the smart refrigerator Instaview door-to-door is expected to launch later this year.
